Collaboration with Bayley Mifsud

Ormond Netball Club is incredibly proud of our collaboration with Indigenous artist Bayley Mifsud (Merindah Gunya), whose stunning artwork features on our training tops.

Bayley’s Aboriginal name, Merindah-Gunya, means ‘Beautiful Spirit’ in the Peek Wurrong language, a name gifted to her through ceremony by her parents and Elders. As well as being an extremely talented Aboriginal artist, Bayley is a passionate and gifted netballer, and works full-time as Officeworks’ National Indigenous Engagement Lead.

Her impressive portfolio includes collaborations such as the St Kilda AFLW Indigenous guernsey, a stationery range with OTTO (available through Officeworks), public artworks at Southland Shopping Centre and GESAC, and more.

The artwork titled ‘Fearless, Togetherness, Resilience’ was launched in November 2022 and has appeared on our training tops since 2023. Bayley describes this piece as representing a netball team:

The artwork featured on our training tops is titled ‘Fearless, Togetherness, Resilience’. Bayley describes it as:

“A contemporary interpretation of Aboriginal storytelling using symbols, lines and dots. The design represents a netball team gathered at the central meeting place, each player bringing their unique journey and experiences. The lines leaving the meeting place reflect their shared future and goals as a team — united, fearless, and resilient. The ancestors (represented by the stars) support their journey, reminding us of the strength that comes from community, diversity, and connection through sport.”
